Congratulations to Indian contingent, Support staff and all those associated directly or indirectly with Asiad contingent.
Finally, India starts to shine at international level in Sports as well. In the recently concluded Asiad held at Hongzhou, China; Indian Sports Minister, Mr. Anurag Thakur and 'Udan Pari' Ms. P.T. Usha, gave the Mantra "Apki Baar 100 paar" means this time it is expected to win 100 medals mark in Asiad. Indian Athletes clear that mark easily and won 107 medals. Before this, the best medal tally of Indian contingent was in 2018 when they won 70 medals. With the support and facilities provided by the Bharat Sarkar, the athletes got the exposure to perform at world level competitions and achieve the milestone of 100+ medals with 8 gold,38 silver and 41 bronze medals (a total of 107 medals), finished 4th in the medal tally behind China, Japan and South Korea. And after few days, PM Narendra Modi on Saturday (14 October 2023) confirmed India would bid for the 2036 Olympic Games in its attempt to bring the world's biggest sporting extravaganza to the country in the 141st session of IOC held in Jio Convention center at Mumbai, India.
India's first individual Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra on Sunday (15 October 2023) expressed the hope with the interview with Economics times that India will get to host the Olympic Games in the near future, most probably in 2036. He was speaking on the sidelines of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) 141st Session where, Bindra, the winner of the 2008 Beijing Olympics gold in 10 m air rifle, said, "I hope we get to host the Olympic Games in the near future."
But what will a country get from grabbing the hosting rights?
According to The Hindu Article "As India plans to bid for hosting the 2036 Olympic and paralympic games, cities across the country will need massive sports infrastructure. You engineering graduates should contribute to creation of the sports infrastructure,” said J. Kumar, Vice Chancellor. Madurai Kamaraj University, here on Sunday.
This, if India wins the bid for Olympics 2036, there is going to be a tremendous job and employment opportunity for millions of organized as well as unorganized section, whether in construction, transport, hospitality, tourism, computer & IT, sports, or in Medical, Physiotherapy and clinicals.
We just hope that India, world's largest democracy, oldest civilization and largest populated country will get the hosting rights for the first time in near future.
All the very best to Indian Government for putting the efforts to grab this opportunity.
